Rotmire Creed Warcry Warband

In October 2022 I finished off painting up the Rotmire Creed warband. Having gotten into Warcry with the 'Heart of ghur' box this was the obvious Warband I'd paint up and play.

I wanted to try out some a bit different on these guys, my process involves Slapchopping the base colours, then an all-over coating of Streaking Grime (which is then removed with make up sponges and then pastel highlights. I think they came out well and very 'nurgley'

Plague Troll

In October 20022 I picked up a 3d printed Plague Troll from Etsy. This model will proxy for a monster in Warcry to accompany my Rotmire Creed warband.

I painted him up using my Nurgle scheme described here - Banjo Unchained: Nurgle Daemons Colour Scheme

Nurgles Rotters

My first project completed back at the beginning of 2021 was this Nurgle's Rotters Blood Bowl team.

I put a lot of effort into this team, following the Darren Lathams tutorial videos. Super happy with how they came out and whilst it was a bit of an effort to paint the 13 models altogether, it was well worth it.

2021 Review

Whilst I didn't make any blog posts last year I did manage some progress so here's a quick post to cover my hobby progress in 2021.

38 models. Not a great achievement really... but there's more to my hobby journey in 2021 than just that headline number.

First of all, during the first part of the year, I achieved one of my long term hobby goals and FINALLY finished my Nurgle's Rotters Blood Bowl team. I'm very happy with how they came out and will post about them soon. After that team though things went downhill a bit when I agreed to take up a 2nd commission. Essentially I found commission painting provided zero enjoyment so a mere 8 models took me about 5 months! Bad times.

After that I turned my attention to some quick, easy and fun Endless Spells to help me get my groove back... and it worked nicely! After those, I moved on to working on updating my AoS scenery collection. None of that work is detailed in the list but it took 3/4 months of effort and the results are great, again I'll post about this work soon!

The final thing I want to cover is the work I put into my 'new' Blood Angel army. This work started in September and I spent circa 80-100 hours airbrushing 90 odd models as a batch project. These models are now ready for me to home in and work on the squads individually.

Anyways, as I didn't post anything for about 18 months I've plenty of 'content' to post about so hopefully lots to come.

Nurgle Daemons Feculent Gnarlmaw

This week I've a couple of Nurgle trees to present!

Very interesting models to paint - and I think they came out quite nicely!

Nurgle Daemons Plague Drones

Now on to some of Grandfather Nurgles finest! Plague Drones.

These were a pain to pain! Aside from the PlagueBearers I fully assembled the modes so found the wings harder to airbrush than if I'd have kept them separate.

I painted the PlagueBearers using the same colour scheme covered here.

For the Plague Drones, i used the following paints:

  • Body - Death World Forest > Ogryn Camo > Ushabti Bone
  • Wings - Zandri Dust > Karak Stone (around the edges)
  • Legs - Loren Forest > Castellan Green > Dryad Back
  • Carapace - Abaddon Black > Eshin Grey > Dawnstone

Nerd Day 2018 Battlescape

Last year I hosted a gaming weekend for myself and 3 buddies. I posted about that event here.

This year, the event will be held at the end of August and will focus entirely on the fantasy side of the hobby... Blood Bowl, Age of Sigmar & Shadespire. To help us play Age of Sigmar to its full potential, we will need a suitably awesome board to play on!

The board aesthetic will be themed along the lines of a Ghyran (Realm of Life) forest which has remnants of its Nurgle corruption.

I have already purchased the mat. I went for the PWork Wargames Terrain Mat - Woodland. It's a great mat and is the perfect tone I was after! (e.g. not too dark or bright)

To populate the board I will be adding various pieces of terrain and scenery... e.g. fallen trees, Azyrite Ruins, temple columns and Nurgle trees. I will cover each piece in detail when they are complete. For now, here is some early work in progress pictures of the pieces I've started working on.
